10 Self-Love Acts on Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is all about love, but it doesn’t have to be just about romantic love. It’s the perfect time (or excuse) to pamper yourself and embrace some much-needed self-care. Whether you’re treating yourself to a cozy day at home or trying something new, here are 10 easy and fun ways to spend the day! It’s all about treating yourself with the kindness and care you deserve.

At Home Spa Day

This is giving “very stereotypical RomCom vibes” but let me emphasize that this is not gonna go down in a sad I’m-Gonna-Die-Alone Way. It’s in a hot YES-I-Finally-Have-Time-To-Relax-Alone Way. Deal? Good.

Light some candles, run a warm bath, and indulge in skincare. You can create a relaxing at-home spa experience with face masks, hair masks, oils, and your favorite bath salts.

Spa Day Outside

If you’re willing to spend some $ this could also be the day you finally get your hair done. Or nails, brows, lashes or a wax (last one sounds absolutely horrific to me perosnally, but some women love it, right!)

When I treat myself, I always spend $ on a massage, because my sore dancer-body always needs it.

Alternative fun Spa-like experiences could be sauna, cryotherapy, contrast therapy, cold plunges, float therapy.. there are so many options that will make your body feel phenomenal afterwards.

Get creative!

I loooove this one. Here are some ideas:

VISION BOARD: Either a physical one, where you print out photos and cut out photos from magazines and make a collage OR you make it digitally by using Pinterest and Canva. A digital one can be used as your screensaver on your phone afterwards, so you can look at it on your phone every day. A physical one can hang on your wall.

MAKE A PHOTO ALBUM: Go through your camera roll and print out your favorite memories with your favorite people, buy a photo album and spend the afternoon printing, gluing and writing cute captions about why the memories were special.l It can be a cute coffee table book afterwards.

FRAME YOUR PHOTOS: Get your favorite photos out of your camera roll and up on the wall, where you can really enjoy them. Print, buy frames and make your home feel even more like home.

PAINT COFFEE MUGS: I’m not a big painter, but I saw that people on Pinterest write cute captions and quotes on mugs which I think is SUCH a cute idea!

Other ideas: Painting, DIY, drawing experimenting with makeup and hair, candlemaking – there are so many fun ideas.

Write, write, write!

Some people love gratitude lists or self love letters, and that’s not my vibe, but maybe it’s yours! And if it is, I think Valentine’s day is a beautiful day to do it on!

I’m very pragmatic and practical, so I just love to sit and write down my goals and aspirations. Sitting down and reflecting on where you are, where you have been going, where you want to go and most importantly how to get there – is to me, an HUGE act of self love.

I love writing lists of literally anything. What books I want to read, things I want to do with my apartment, a bucket list of fun things I want to do either in the city I live in (Los Angeles) or in the world. It could be a content list of videos you want to film, dance challenges you want to learn etc. etc.

… I love a list.

Call Someone You Haven’t Talked To In Forever

I’m sure you can think of 1 or 2 people in this very moment who you love, but haven’t talked to in what feels like 5000 years.

Call them. Today is the day!

Move Your Body

Don’t punish yourself by doing a crazy workout if you don’t want to. Try to find soemthing that sounds FUN to you.

Here are ideas: meditation class, sound bath, yoga, spinning, workout class, pilates, horseback riding, surfing, biking by the beach, hiking or maybe swimming?

Moving your body with being in nature can be so soothing! Go to the beach, a forest, a hiking trail or even a park.

Combining it with a great podcast or your favorite music makes it even better.

Be Intentional About Your Meals

Hear if from someone who rarely spends more than 10 minutes in a kitchen: I want you to really be selective and intentional with what you eat on this day.

Slow down and really make an effort. Romanticize cooking if you want to cook and make whatever you’re making really great and pretty. If you simply don’t want to cook anything, then walk a little further for the best coffee or the best croissant.

Maybe you’re in the mood to try a new recipe or bake something you saw on TikTok. Maybe you’re gonna order sushi from your favorite place.

Just because you’re eating alone doesn’t have to make your eating experience less amazing.

DIsconnect And Unplug

Take a break from social media, work, or any outside distractions. Give yourself permission to be present in the moment and focus on your own thoughts and needs. Enjoy a day of complete relaxation and mental clarity.

Clean and organize!

If you think this sounds boring, you’re probably a teenager or in your early 20’s. If you’re mid/late 20’s and up, you probably think this sounds FUN.

Wihtout aging myself, I think this is a phenomal acitivty! Declutter your closet, cabinets, redecorate, donate clothes, deep clean and feel like a new human being afterwards.

Treat Yourself to a New Book or Movie

Escape into a world of fiction or learn something new with a book you’ve been dying to read. Alternatively, indulge in a favorite movie or new release that brings comfort or inspiration. Going to the movie theater or the library/book store alone is such a great experience too!

I LOVE going to “The Last Bookstore” in LA and sit and read there for hours. I’m such a sucker for their poetry section.

Love Yourself, Always

Valentine’s Day is the perfect reminder that self-love isn’t just about treating yourself on one day—it’s about celebrating who you are every single day. Whether you’re taking a bubble bath, meditating, sleeping in or just spending time alone doing what you love, give yourself the gift of appreciation. You deserve it!
